Valério ADAMI

Valerio Adami is an Italian painter linked to Pop art. At first, he worked in an expressionist style and then gradually developed a very graphic aesthetic inspired by French partitionism, a post-Impressionist movement in which bold color forms were surrounded by black lines. Adami's stylized works are reminiscent of commercial imagery, which associates him with other members of Pop art. Born March 17, 1935 in Bologna, Italy, he began studying painting at the age of 10 with Felice Carena. From 1951 to 1954 he studied at the Academy Academy and in 1959 his first solo exhibition was held in Milan. He also produced the film Vacations in the Desert (1972) with his brother Giancarlo and, in 1975, he was the subject of Jacques Derrida's essay entitled "+ R: Into the Bargain". Several major retrospectives take place, notably at the Center Pompidou in Paris in 1986 and at the Boca Raton Museum of Art in Florida in 2010.
